Macau May Limit Casino Growth

Macau one of the fastest growing gambling spots in the world is currently looking to limit it’s casino growth. Currently, Macau’s economy is largely tourism with many vacationers visiting t0 play at the casinos owned by Wynn, MGM and Las Vegas Sands.

There are currently six casinos located in Macau and the government & casino license owners are discussing the future of the industry and are coming to a common consensus that they shouldn’t try to keep expanding in Macau. Las Vegas is currently another gambling mecca that has seen huge growth in the last 10 years but is feeling a large downturn due to the economy and growth has slowed and projects in the beginning phases have been frozen. I think many casino companies don’t want something similar to happen in Macau.

The Macau government is discussing limiting slot machines as well as raising the age of players and staff to 21. Macau is the only Chinese city to have legal gambling which makes it a huge draw for toursists in China as well as around the world.
